Akamai is a content delivery network (CDN) that is used by a large percentage of Internet sites (something like a ⅓ to ½ of all traffic goes through Akamai). Normally the addresses don't show up, but sometimes you will see edgesuite.net which is handled by Akamai.

I need an explanation as to why my Office 365 clients (who do not use OneDrive/SharePoint/Exchange Online to sync data) over the last 6 hours have transferred over 30GB(?!) of data between the officecdn.microsoft.com.edgesuite.net and other delivery systems (2.tlu.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com, 7.au.download.windowsupdate.com, etc.) causing connectivity issues resulting from saturating my network.
